Thanksgiving
Gobble Till You Wobble
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, many of us are wondering how different our celebration will look this year. Amid travel restrictions, safety concerns, and the unpredictable rollercoaster of 2020, we hope you’re able to replicate some semblance of a traditional Thanksgiving and find comfort in these uncertain times. Whether you host a socially distanced gathering, decide to dine together virtually, or ditch tradition (and begin new ones) to celebrate responsibly, your day can still be filled with gratitude, delicious food, and some wholesome cocktails.
Here at Simplicity, we’re thankful for the past year of progress, development, and growth of our very own family. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, our team came together virtually to reminisce on our favorite treats and memories.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food: Mashed potatoes formed into a volcano, and filled with turkey gravy. Also required: a large pile of gherkins.
Favorite Thanksgiving Tradition: The annual post-Thanksgiving poker with the Bastar clan. Losing money until 3-4 in the morning, coupled with potential naming rights to someone's soon to be born child, has a certain draw to it.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food: Candied bacon, it is so good! Bacon strips baked with light brown sugar and chili powder. Salty, Spicy, and Sweet!
Favorite Thanksgiving Memory: I have so many fond memories of spending time with both the Barnett and Bastar families. However, last year Thanksgiving was quite unique! Celebrating a birthday and holiday on Manly Beach in Australia with 80-degree weather, beachfront views, and a small group of family and friends.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food: Funeral potatoes - Having not grown up in Utah, I had no idea this amazing(ly common) dish existed. Sour cream, potatoes and cheese...sans funeral, this dish is perfect.
Favorite Thanksgiving Memory: Thanksgiving 2006 changed my life. We spent the week with my family in Southern California. One morning we drove to Malibu for breakfast on the beach. Right after a few bloody Marys, I asked my wife to marry me...she told me to shut up.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food: Mashed sweet potatoes with maple syrup (don’t bash it till you try!).
Favorite Thanksgiving Memory: Growing up in Vermont, I love the memory of waking up to fresh eggs and biscuits with honey (straight from the chickens and bees in our backyard) before going on a family hike.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food: Homemade Macaroni and cheese.
Favorite Thanksgiving Tradition: Ever since I was a kid I have had a very specific way of eating my thanksgiving meals. To me, just about everything on that plate tastes the best when they're all mixed together. Every Thanksgiving I make the ultimate sandwich by pushing together turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, macaroni, and stuffing all inside of a homemade roll. It sounds a little crazy, but trust me, it’s a game changer!
